This module will shift how you see the act of storytelling and yourself as a storyteller. You’ll gain a foundation for radically empowered choice-making in how you see, process, and share your knowledge. You’ll reconnect with your inherent truths, molecular wisdom, and interconnected storytelling lineage in a way that can’t be unseen once you’ve seen it.
This module guides our self-inquiry deeper into the body, illuminating common fracture points so you can better understand how your voice & visibility “limps” have developed. This module guides us to correct those “limps” and invite our bodies, minds, and voices back into a more harmonious relationship with one another. You’ll learn practices to come back to again & again, becoming your own “story chiropractor” to release blocks & knots.
This module reveals the weeds that are choking your voice’s freest growth & expression. As you weed out these invaders, you’ll be guided into nurturing practices to reacquaint yourself with your dynamic, unique voice. Through this work, you’ll learn to love your voice’s distinct qualities, range, and focus. You’ll leave with practices for continued refinement and care of your developing voice, emboldening you to share your voice with your worlds.
This module invites us into gentler ways of working with memory – transmuting our experience of feeling like we’re walking in a landmine to one of painting a picture with creativity & calm. You’ll shift your relationship with your memory towards deeper trust, anchoring in your integrity and care. The throughline in this module is sovereign choice-making, a practice that reinforces our safety and power.
This module guides you into the practice of critical, yet compassionate self-inquiry– one of the most powerful tools of self-determination. By deepening our practices of making sense of our experiences in context of the systems we exist within, we invite in both radical compassion for our past stories and liberatory self-determination for the stories we have yet to write. This module teaches a powerful tool of story inquiry that guides you to ask better questions, try on multiple perspectives, develop mobilizing working-theories, and voice a clearer story of who you are, how you got here, and what happens next.
This module grounds your transformative story work into powerful intentions, lineage, and a storytelling community that will carry you forward on this journey. You’ll define your storyteller’s blueprint, intuitively naming your storytelling elder’s and inviting their imprint into your work. You’ll learn practices to sustain and integrate, continuing to expand your capacity as knowledge-worker & creative leader. We’ll close with community rituals that will inform and empower your future knowledge-sharing experiences.
Hi, I’m Joey
I’m a story teacher, curriculum designer, and educator-activist with a Ph.D. in Culture & Curriculum. For nearly two decades, I’ve helped people transform their lived experiences into creations and power. I believe in shaping the world with our shared their wisdom — without selling out our dignity, values, or humanity.
My work centers people from the Global Majority and those shaped by systemic oppression. Decades of teaching liberatory pedagogy to thousands of humans has equipped me with a particular capacity to help people of all backgrounds move beyond shame, disconnection, and freeze into better relationships with self, place, community, and purpose.
This work is deeply personal for me. As someone who grew up biracial, multi-lingual, an immigrant, autistic, and a trauma survivor, I understand the complexity of sharing our stories in a world that hasn’t always made space for our voices. My own healing journey, (including becoming a certified Kundalini yoga teacher & learning from Indigenous teachers about healthier, more collective ways of being), has shaped how I approach leadership & visibility.
My mission is to support a community of thriving voices from the global majority who will reverberate their necessary knowledge, imagination, and ideas for the liberation of our best collective futures. I’m here to hold space for your story journey, offering both the practical tools and sacred practices that allow your most liberated, flourishing self emerge.
I teach sacred, somatic story work as an ancestral practice and tool for collective liberation. Sovereign Storyteller is the live, co-constructed expression of that work — the place where methodology becomes embodied practice, held in thriving community.
In the Sovereign Storyteller cohort, emergent creators, founders, & visionaries demolish whatever is holding them back and rebuild their most coherent inner architecture to sustain their truest becoming and steadiest building. This is how their best work emerges and shifts paradigms.
