Master Faye Li Yip – Yi Jin Jing Qigong

Master Faye Li Yip
Cultivate the inner strength of a warrior without strain, transform tension into power, and awaken greater presence, calm, and resilience with the 12 movements of Yi Jin Jing Qigong — a 1,500-year-old Shaolin practice designed for transmuting modern stress into resilience and calm.
At the place within where breath, intention, stillness, and movement meet lies a power that can relieve pain and inspire calm — not through force or strain but through presence.
This power is so immense that it was once protected by warrior monks and passed down as secret teachings within monastic and martial arts circles. The 12 movements of Yi Jin Jing connect us with this inner power.
Yi Jin Jing Qigong restructures the body’s inner architecture by strengthening the tendons, which are viewed as Qi pathways in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Qigong theory…
… awakening inner presence, and transforming the trapped and untapped power that resides in stress and tension into vitality, strength, clarity, and resilience.
During this 7-module course with Master Qigong teacher Faye Li Yip, you’ll learn the 12-movement sequence of Yi Jin Jing and gently cultivate greater presence, physical and spiritual strength, and inner power through breathwork, physical structure, and mindful intention practices that open your energy gates, circulate Qi, and realign the body from the tendons outward.
As you move through the sequence, you may begin to notice your back pain easing, your breath deepening, and a sense of calm resilience settling into your body.
Rooted in the ancient Shaolin lineage and passed down through Master Faye’s family of respected martial artists, Yi Jin Jing can help you gain flexibility in your spine, protect your joints, relieve pain, and ground your nervous system as you unblock emotional stagnation.
Unlike external strength training (which often relies on fast, repetitive motion with brute force), Yi Jin Jing’s focus involves slow and deliberate movements and subtle sensing — which builds inner presence as your awareness remains inside the body…
… feeling micro-movements, subtle tension shifts, and energy flow throughout the meridians, joints, and spine. The result is not just stronger tendons — but a more embodied, calm, and awake state of being.
Master Faye’s compassionate, structured teaching style — spanning more than 30 years — makes this ancient practice accessible for everyone, regardless of age or experience. Her lifelong devotion to Qigong as both art and healing modality allows her to transmit the essence of this lineage with clarity, authenticity, and deep respect for each student’s journey and the modern challenges we face today.
Her unique Yi Jin Jing technique has resulted in noticeable improvements from her students in flexibility, physical structure, and inner strength and resilience.
Yi Jin Jing is especially useful for those who often get stuck in fight or flight mode, struggle with chronic stress and fatigue, or are experiencing weakness in their back or spine, as it cultivates strength and calm through presence and mental clarity that remains focused during demanding circumstances.
Through the harmony of breath, structure, and intention, you’ll learn how to generate power through letting go, soften into strength, and rewire your body to become a clear conduit for resilience, energy, and spiritual alignment.
If you’re feeling stuck in your body, drained by stress, or ready to reclaim your innate strength from the inside out, this course is your invitation. And, all movements can be adapted to your physical, mental, and emotional needs.

During this Yi Jin Jing Qigong course, you’ll:
- Explore the meaning of “Yi Jin Jing” ( 易筋 经 ) — a system for rebuilding the body from the “tendons out” for lasting strength — and how each character holds deep significance to your practice
- Be guided through the 12 movements of Yi Jin Jing to open energy gates, awaken Qi, release tension, strengthen tendons, protect lumbar discs, lengthen the spine, ground your energy, light your inner fire, and more
- Awaken focused power and develop strength with mindfulness, grinding away blockages and cultivating power without strain or tension
- Discover how to generate power through letting go (Fang Sung), and dissolving stress while building endurance
- Lead movement through your breath — and amplify Qi circulation
- Explore the 3 practice pathways: Therapeutic (slow, focused on alignment), Energetic (breath-led, Qi visualization), and Martial (dynamic tension applications)
- Learn how to identify which movements best serve your body (e.g., sore back is therapeutic; feeling drained is energetic; feeling athletic is martial, etc.)
- Understand meridian connections — how these moves benefit your organs
- Learn stance secrets such as the bow stance vs. empty stance — and weight distribution for joint safety and proper alignment to avoid knee strain
Yi Jin Jing develops inner and outer strength — a quiet, resilient strength that is rooted, focused, and calm even in the face of stress or challenge.
When you stretch and lengthen tendons with mindful movement and breath, you are literally opening energetic pathways and increasing your capacity to feel and direct inner energy.
In TCM, the liver system governs the tendons and also the free flow of Qi and emotions. Working the tendons supports emotional flexibility and resilience, clarity of intention and directed action, and the release of pent-up anger or frustration.
With Yi Jin Jing, you’ll find a practice that doesn’t just improve your physical structure — it empowers your spirit, grounds your mind, and restores a deep, unshakable vitality to your entire being.

Release Tension, Awaken Your Innate Physical & Spiritual Strength & Build Resilience
Begin your journey with the roots of Yi Jin Jing — a thousand-year-old “tendon-changing” art from Shaolin.
Master Faye shares the core principles of Yi Jin Jing (易筋 经 ), where breath, movement, and mindful tension merge to awaken your body’s innate strength.
You’ll also learn why Yi Jin Jing is called “tendon-changing” Qigong and how its slow, deliberate motions can release deep-seated tension while building resilience.
In this session, you’ll:
- Explore the meaning of “Yi Jin Jing” — a system to rebuild the body from the “tendons out” for lasting strength, and how each character holds deep significance
- Discover Wei Tuo’s role — the Chinese incarnation of the Buddhist deity Skanda — as a bridge between martial arts power and spiritual discipline
- Understand the Pestle (the staff of Wei Tuo) as a symbol for focused power — strength with mindfulness, grinding away blockages
- Be guided in “Wei Tuo Presents the Pestle” movements 1-3 to open energy gates (e.g. Laogong points) and relieve shoulder stiffness
- Be guided in a breath-body-mind sync, harmonizing Heaven and Earth through abdominal breathing that awakens Qi

Unlock Your Spine, Open Energy Channels & Learn to Differentiate Healthy Tension From Strain
Be guided through the “Plucking a Star” and “Pulling Nine Cows by Their Tails” movements to learn how to rotate your spine with spiral energy upward from the earth, while releasing tension in the spine and hips.
Master Faye shares how these postures stimulate key meridians, such as Triple Burner, to enhance vitality, reduce stiffness, and improve emotional balance.
In this session, you’ll:
- Be guided in the “Plucking a Star” movement — spiraling motions to decompress vertebrae and stimulate the Triple Burner meridian
- Be guided in the “Pulling Nine Cows” movement to build leg strength while rooting energy to the earth
- Learn why slow rotation is key for disc health
- Explore how to differentiate healthy tension from strain
- Use breath to pull energy through the meridians

Build Tendon Power & Stability to Relieve Hip & Back Tension & Handle Structural Stress With Greater Ease
The legs are your energy pillars in Yi Jin Jing. This week, you’ll dive into Yi Jin Jing’s warrior stances to develop unshakable leg strength and joint resilience.
You’ll focus on the “empty stance” and “bow stance” movements in “Pulling Nine Cows by Their Tails,” learning to channel ground force upward while protecting your knees.
These postures — combined with new movements “Pushing Palms Forward” and “Nine Spirit Drawing Swords” — train your tendons (not just muscles) to handle daily stresses with ease.
They’re perfect for relieving hip and lower back tension and improving balance.
In this session, you’ll:
- Learn stance secrets such as the “bow stance” vs. “empty stance” — and weight distribution for joint safety and proper alignment to avoid knee strain
- Be guided in the “Pushing Palms Forward” movement to engage the legs while opening shoulder meridians
- Be guided in the “9 Spirit Drawing Swords” movement to develop rotational stability of the spine and tendon resilience
- Discover breath-stance coordination — inhaling to restore, exhaling to stabilize

Cultivate Lower Body Stability With Graceful Upper Body Power for Grounded & Expansive Energy Flow
Learn the transformative movements of “Sinking Three Bodily Zones” and “Dragon Displays Claws.” Together, these two movements cultivate what the masters call “rooted wings.”
With “Sinking Three Bodily Zones,” you’ll learn how to release tension systematically from shoulders to hips, creating space for effortless breathing and movement. “Dragon Displays Claws” then awakens your upper body with its signature spiraling motion — strengthening wrists, shoulders and spine while stimulating the Triple Burner meridian.
These movements create the perfect balance of earth connection and expansive energy flow as you learn to move from your center rather than forcing motion from the limbs, protecting joints while building elegant strength.
In this session, you’ll:
- Be guided in “Sinking Three Bodily Zones” — progressive tension release for head-to-pelvis alignment
- Be guided in “Dragon Displays Claws” — silk-reeling spirals that strengthen tendons, a dynamic spiral for shoulder and wrist health
- Embrace a progressive mindset and the 70% rule to cultivate power without strain or tension
- Understand meridian connections and how these moves benefit lung and large intestine energy

Experience Greater Mobility, Clarity & Flow as You Unlock Spinal Vitality & Activate a Full Sensory Reset
This module harnesses Yi Jin Jing’s dynamic spirals to release deep tension and awaken your body’s natural mobility.
Through “Tiger Springs to Its Prey” and “Bowing in Salutation,” you’ll learn controlled rotations that massage organs, relieve sciatica, and rotate from the dantian.
“Tapping the Heavenly Drum” in “Bowing in Salutation” will become a full sensory reset, stimulating GB20 (Feng Chi) to clear brain fog, relieve headaches, and sync the body’s rhythms.
Paired with “Tiger Springs,” you’ll experience Yi Jin Jing as both physical therapy and energy alchemy.
In this session, you’ll:
- Be guided in “Tiger Springs to Its Prey” — a controlled spiral that engages the obliques while protecting the lumbar discs and stimulating kidney Qi circulation
- Be guided in “Bowing in Salutation” — a forward fold and twist combo to lengthen the spine and hamstrings
- Learn how to tap the heavenly drum for mental clarity and headache relief
- Discover how to generate power through letting go (Fang Sung), dissolving stress while building endurance
- Be guided in a breath-spiral sync — inhaling to prepare, exhaling to spring

Meditative Movements & Visualization to Disperse Qi, Direct Energy Flow & Awaken Inner Alchemy
Transition from physical mastery to energetic refinement through two flowing forms: “Swinging the Tail” and “Closing Form.”
These meditative movements teach you to “play” your body like an instrument, using gentle oscillations to disperse stagnant Qi, and guided visualizations to direct energy flow.
The “Closing Form” in particular seals your practice, integrating benefits while imprinting a state of calm alertness.
You’ll discover how Yi Jin Jing’s external movements become internal alchemy when paired with focused intention.
In this session, you’ll:
- Be guided in “Swinging the Tail” — a gentle side-to-side sway to release residual tension in the hips and spine
- Stimulate the decision-making energy of the Gallbladder/Liver meridian
- Induce a “reset” for the nervous system
- Be guided in the “Closing Form” — a restorative practice to return Qi to the dantian
- Learn how breath leads movement and amplifies Qi circulation

Personalize Your Practice for Lifelong Vitality
This final module synthesizes all the elements you’ve learned throughout the course into a 15-minute daily flow you can practice indefinitely.
You’ll learn to adapt Yi Jin Jing for specific needs — whether stress relief, pain management, or energy cultivation — while understanding how the 12-movement sequence tells a complete story of transformation.
Master Faye will also share subtle refinements in familiar postures and conclude with a powerful self-assessment ritual to track progress.
In this session, you’ll explore:
- The 12-Movement Short Form fluid sequence
- Three practice pathways: Therapeutic (slow, focused on alignment); Energetic (breath-led, Qi visualization); Martial (dynamic tension applications)
- How to identify which movements best serve your body (e.g. sore back requires “therapeutic,” feeling drained needs “energetic,” feeling athletic aligns with “martial,” etc.)
